Upper School Exam Results 2018

Many congratulations to pupils throughout the Upper School who this year recorded another set of excellent exam results. This year saw a record number of SQA courses presentations in the school (nearly 200).

This year’s pass rate (A-C) for Higher was 91.3%, well above the national pass rate of 76.8%. The proportion of results graded ‘A’ or ‘B’ was 77.9%, in line with the extremely strong performances of recent years, while 56% of all Higher grades were ‘A’—the highest in the school’s history. These results should ensure that Edinburgh Steiner School continues to rank among the top independent schools in Scotland.

Advanced Higher results were outstanding, with 100% achieving an ‘A’ grade.

The pass rate for National 5 was also 87.3%, slightly down on the last two years. However, the proportion of ‘A’ and ‘B’ grades was higher than last year, at 73.5%.

There were many individual achievements, with several pupils achieving the coveted string of ‘straight As,’ and several departmental highlights, with particularly impressive results in maths, art, music and languages.

All these results are a rich reward for all the hard work and commitment demonstrated by Upper School pupils and their teachers.

GCSE results will be released at the end of August.
