Class 3 Camping Trip To Garvald Farm

As part of the Main Lesson on Farming in Class 3, the 8- and 9-year-old pupils spend up to two nights and three days wild camping in the fields of Garvald Home Farm. This particular trip is an overnight. The children will wake up to milk the cows.

This follows several day trips to the farm throughout the academic year.

Pupils at Edinburgh Steiner School revisit the biodynamic farm in Class 9, spending up to two weeks immersing in daily farm life.

Outings are a vital part of our education: from short, local trips into nature in the Early Years, to cultural excursions, museum and farm visits, and extended residential trips to national and international destinations for older pupils.

Outings are about experiences, and each experience—which might involve practical, experimental or project work – is carefully planned to fit with a particular stage of the Steiner curriculum.

An overview of these can be seen here: Trips and Outings
