Parent & Child Group
Our parent & child sessions currently welcome toddlers with their parents, grandparents and carers (siblings also welcome), to share fun together in a friendly and relaxed environment in two locations.
Our Parent and Child programme will continue in nature’s playground so as to be careful to allow plenty of space and fresh air to stay within Covid safety guidelines. The venue on Tuesdays – Thursdays offers shelter under a marquee and access to toilets. On dreich days, the Monday Group will also take place here.
The Monday Group gives us the chance to enjoy the wonder and awe of our natural surroundings at Colinton Dell, with a woodland walk and time spent on the riverbank. (View Colinton Dell Toddler Group). The name of Colinton comes from the Gaelic Baile Cholgain, meaning ‘village in the woods’.
Marquee & Private Gardens, close to Edinburgh Steiner campus
Tuesday – Thursday Toddler Groups will take place a stone’s throw away from Edinburgh Steiner School’s campus at Napier Road, EH10 5AZ. Beautiful mature private gardens of a 19th Century villa, with apple and pear trees, a tire swing and spacious grounds abundant with wildlife, provides an outdoor setting with the addition of shelter from rain and wind by a marquee. There is also access to toilets.
The next Groups will run after the Autumn Term for seven sessions each, running term time only. This block reserves your space for the whole period. No refunds are therefore offered for missed sessions.
Online booking system link below. Families who would like to start on a date after the Group begins are welcome to join if there is availability to do so. This can be done from the drop down menu.
We will provide freshly baked bread, sliced apples and craft materials. (Each family will need to bring their own blanket/mat to sit on, mug, bowl and tea). Each session costs £8.00 per family, payable in half-termly blocks. All the sessions will comprise a walk, seasonal craft, snack and circle time (seasonal songs, verses and story).
Toddler Hut – (currently closed – planned reopening from 27th October, 2021)
If you would like to be notified when the indoor Parent & Child groups resume, please email: email@example.com
Activities such as baking organic bread and biscuits, arts and crafts or preparing for a seasonal festival are as much for the adults as they are for the children. There is a dedicated garden and sandpit for outdoor play as well as the carefully maintained grounds of the wider Edinburgh Steiner School for longer walks and exploration. A healthy, organic snack is provided.
